
The Office of the Provost advances the mission of the 91ÌÒÉ« through the coordinated support of academic affairs. As U91ÌÒÉ«’s second-ranking officer, the Provost collaborates closely with the and her cabinet, deans and directors, the chief academic officers of other campuses across the and the world-class who carry out U91ÌÒÉ«’s mission through their teaching, research, and service. Through its stewardship of various functions unique to the university’s status as a Land- and Sea-Grant institution, the Office of the Provost serves diverse communities at U91ÌÒÉ« and beyond.
In total, the Office oversees six colleges (and associated schools) and U91ÌÒÉ«’s regional campus, the 91ÌÒÉ« at Machias. It oversees the Division of Lifelong Learning; Cooperative Extension; and many other departments, divisions, offices and centers across the university. It also leads academic affairs, faculty development, student success initiatives, strategic priorities, program assessment and accreditation, institutional research and assessment, university libraries, and academic personnel management (including appointments and reappointments of faculty and staff, tenure and promotion, and annual evaluations).
